Welcome! We’re Belfast Marrow, the QUB student-run charity that aims to save lives from leukaemia and severe blood disorders. We work alongside Anthony Nolan to help recruit people to the bone marrow register, which links potential donors with people who desperately need a stem cell transplant. Marrow is in 39 universities throughout the UK and in seven other countries, but we want to grow and expand. With more supporters like you, we can help save twice as many lives. How do we do it? We organise student recruitment events in which you can join the bone marrow register! Its a simple process involving a chat with one of our trained cousellors and that all important saliva sample... easy and pain-free! We are also actively involved in fundraising for Anthony Nolan - pub quizes, nights out, pub crawls, bake sales and marathons. Click here to find out info on our next big event! The story so far: We’ve been running in the UK since 1998. The project was initially set up by James Custow and group of student doctors from the University of Nottingham following the death of a friend from leukaemia. Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength. Our work has been recognised by the World Health Organisation’s Federation for Medical Students, with Marrow taking first place awards for the last two years. Belfast Marrow We've been active for almost 10 years with Queen's University Belfast and last year we managed to recruit just over 350 new potential donors to the register alongside raising just over £8000 for Anthony Nolan! This year we plan to do even better and with your help we can smash last years figures out of the water! Find out how you can get involved! |
